Why We Print Locally in Sydney

Most of the flyers we print never sit on a shelf. They go from the guillotine to a LetterboxPush walker or into a stack of ParcelPush inserts, often in the same week. That's the real reason we print in Sydney. It isn't sentiment. When the printer and the distribution team are a short drive apart, a lot of the usual problems never get a chance to happen.

I've watched campaigns fall over because 20,000 flyers were sitting in a freight depot in another state on the day the sale started. So here's our honest take on printing locally versus ordering from an online print shop, or from a printer interstate or overseas. Online printers have their place and we'll say where.

What changes when the printer is close

You check a proof before any paper gets used

Every job gets a digital proof first. On short digital runs we can also print a sample, so you see the colours on real paper and not on your phone, which is always brighter than ink will ever be.

You can feel the stock

A 150gsm gloss and a 300gsm matt look identical in a PDF. In your hand they're two different flyers. Ask and we'll get stock samples to you before you choose, so you're not guessing from a dropdown menu.

Mistakes get caught before the run

The wrong phone number on 30,000 flyers is an expensive recycling job. We read every proof with the letterbox or the parcel in mind. If your offer ends on a Sunday you're closed, or the QR code is too small to scan, you'll hear from us before it goes on press.

No freight in the middle

Delivery within Sydney is free. If the flyers are going out with LetterboxPush or ParcelPush, they go from the printer to the distribution team and we tell them what's coming and when. There's no interstate truck and no chasing a tracking number for a pallet.

One contact who knows where the flyer ends up

Our team also runs the letterbox drops and the parcel inserts. When you ask for a quote we already know what Australia Post accepts as unaddressed mail and which stock holds up in a damp letterbox in July. You deal with one person from artwork to the last letterbox.

Where an online print shop is fine

Fair's fair. If you need 500 business cards with no deadline and you've set up print files plenty of times before, an online printer will probably do the job and you don't need us. Same with a one-off run of party invitations.

Where it gets tricky is anything tied to a date or a drop. A sale that starts on Saturday. Inserts that need to be at a warehouse before a big dispatch day. That's when a phone call to someone in Sydney beats a support ticket.

Overseas printing can look cheap per thousand. Once you add freight and a few weeks on a ship, it often isn't. And a damaged carton that turns up after the sale has started is no bargain.

Typical example jobs

These are the kind of jobs that come across my desk. They're typical examples, not named clients.

A café in the Inner West brings in a new breakfast menu. They want A6 flyers, printed both sides, with a coffee voucher on the back. The proof shows the old Monday closing time is still on there. We fix it, print, and the flyers go straight to LetterboxPush for a drop around the surrounding streets.

A real estate agent in the Eastern Suburbs lists a house on a Tuesday with the first open home on Saturday. They need tear-away cards with the open times on the tear-off, in letterboxes on the surrounding streets before the weekend. That timing only works when the printer and the walkers are in the same city.

An online pet food store in Western Sydney wants an A6 card in every outgoing order with a code for the next purchase. We print on a lighter stock so it slides into a satchel without adding bulk, and deliver it to their warehouse at no charge. National brands doing the same through ParcelPush usually go for tear-away cards with a promo code.

A plumber on the Northern Beaches reorders the same fridge card every few months. We keep the print-ready file, so a reorder is an email with the quantity and any change to the licence or phone number.

Frequently asked questions

Is printing locally in Sydney more expensive than online?

Not always. For a small run with no deadline an online printer can come in cheaper. Once you count freight and the cost of a campaign starting without its flyers, the gap usually closes. Send us the specs and compare it yourself.

How quickly can you print flyers in Sydney?

It depends on the quantity and the finishing. Short runs go on digital presses and are the quickest. Big runs go on offset. We give you a firm date with the quote and plan the print around your drop or dispatch date.

Can I see the paper before I order?

Yes. Ask for stock samples when you request a quote. On short digital runs we can also print a sample of your actual flyer before the full run.

Do you deliver outside Sydney?

Delivery within Sydney is free. Delivery to Brisbane or Melbourne is quoted on request, and LetterboxPush runs letterbox drops in all three cities.

Can the flyers go straight to my letterbox drop or parcel inserts?

Yes. That's the main reason we exist. We print, then hand the flyers to LetterboxPush or ParcelPush, so you never have to store or move boxes yourself.

Do you print on recycled or FSC certified paper?

Yes. We can print on FSC certified stock or on 100% recycled paper. Mention it in the comments field of the quote form.
